Now that the ghosts and ghouls of Halloween have passed, ’tis the season of corporate holiday party planning. The holiday season is meant to be a time of peace and joy, yet instead brings bah-humbugs across some offices. The idea of getting together with co-workers for a couple of drinks sounds interesting, however studies show that many employees don’t take the time to go to holiday extravaganzas. In a time of Skype calls and instant messaging, it is more important than ever to come together and get to know your fellow co-workers IRL (in-real-life). The first step though, is planning an epic holiday party that co-workers will actually want to go to!
Whether you want to bring your event to the next level or it’s your first time planning a party in general, have no fear, JP Catering is here… to bring your party drab to fab this holiday season!
All it takes is 7 simple steps:
1. Save The Date
You may be thinking it is a tad bit too early to plan a holiday party however, planning early is the key to success. The biggest struggle of planning any event, is finding a day that is ideal for everyone to come together. With polling tools such as Survey Monkey, it is easier than ever to simply send out a massive email and allow the votes to come in.
2. Pick a Theme
Sometimes corporate work parties can have you questioning if Dwight and Jim planned it. It’s time to get creative! Think of inclusive themes that aren’t solely based on Saint Nick, but instead bring a little bit of glimmer to the office.
3. Name a Venue
If you are bored of looking at the same four walls that make up your work day, pick a fun venue for the big corporate event! Venues can be an exclusive event room at a local hall, or a conversation piece… may we recommend Arta Gallery? From bowling to a roller rink, spice up your event with a fun location!
4. Budget well!
It is easy to get caught up in fancy frills and dollar bills when wanting to plan an epic work party. In the grand scheme of things just know you can be boujie on a budget! Instead of buying decorations, go to your local arts store, get creative with what you already have and consider rentals.
5. Don’t Stop the Music
Music has the ability to set the mood on any occasion. Whether you have the funds for a DJ or not don’t fret! Doing something as simple as making a collaborative Spotify playlist for the event allows everyone in the office to share their favourite track for the night.
6. Who doesn’t love a good open bar?
While ensuring everyone still has a good time, consider some rules for the bar. How many drinks are permitted per person? Is a ticket system more ideal for your audience? Then have some fun – create a cocktail recipe just for the party. We’ve got a great Espresso Martini recipe right here.
7. Who’s hungry?
I don’t know about you, but one of our favourite things about the Holiday Party season is the food. Great food is known to create long lasting memories. Which is why we’ve created a brand-new Holiday Menu for you. Keep in mind dietary restrictions, allergies, and corporate party budgets.
